In New Zealand all varieties of hemp to be grown must be listed on the Ministry of Health list of “Approved Cultivars of Industrial Hemp”. This will change in 2026 as a result of the Ministry for Regulations Changes to the industrial hemp regulations
The document below which is currently being updated (Jan 2026) lists the seed companies involved with the cultivars of Industrial Hemp approved pursuant to regulation 5(1) of the Misuse of Drugs (Industrial Hemp) Regulations 2006.
