Welcome to the NZHIA Seed Project. The association will gain interest here for all parties who would like to purchase Kompolti seeds for non-commercial growing purposes. Commercial buyers should refer to the list of varieties that were approved under the old regulations; the suppliers of these seeds can be found here.
Please note that this is an ongoing project. Following the 28 May 2026 regulatory changes, the NZHIA is actively working to develop a practical and accessible seed supply project that supports non-commercial growers, home gardens, and small-scale cottage industry participants for the 2026 growing season and beyond.
We appreciate your patience as we work with industry and regulators to establish a supply pathway that is both compliant and fit-for-purpose for this emerging sector.
The NZHIA are undertaking this project as a fundraiser, and we want to share best practices and industry information that will be relevant to you. We want you to be aware of the risks to the industry, and we want to track industry data and encourage a professional, self-regulating hemp industry.
Please note you cannot grow and feed hemp to production or companion animals, see the ACVM alert here. Leaf and flower can only be supplied to a Medicinal Cannabis licence holder. Pollen drift is a major risk to the emerging hemp industry.
Compliance and notifications are the responsibility of the grower. NZHIA will provide information and links to the guidance, but we take no responsibility for your actions.
